We also did a team-building activity where table-groups had to build the tallest tower out of plastic and paper cups and paper plates. Students learned the value of working together.

For Spanish we have continued with oral practice of:

    Me llamo _____.

For matemáticas, we have been representing a number using tally marks and place vaue.

In English we discussed the 5 Ws: who, what ,where, when and why. We are using this to break down a story so we can retell it.

Friday September 9th update

 ¡Hola familias!

This week was an exciting short week. Grade 2 worked on the 100s chart, ordering numbers and the number line in their math journals. In English language art and literature (ELAL), we learned to write in our writing journal by writing about our weekend or our Summer. In Spanish language arts (SLA) we worked on oral practice of question and answering what our names are and how old we are. I asked by throwing and catching a soft ball :

     ¿Como te llamas?

        Yo me llamo ________.

     ¿Y cuantos años tienes?

        Yo tengo _____ años.

This week we also had a fire drill and the grade 2s were able to follow instructions and we all made it out efficiently. Today we had our first assembly and after going through all the expected behaviour I was very happy with the way they all conducted themselves. Throughout the whole week the students were all sharing their "All about me" bag, and everyone learned about each other.

We also spent time talking and reading about our feeling and what to do with them to reduce school anxiety. This is something we will continue to work on as well as classroom routines.

Terry Fox Donation sheets went home this week. Please donate online, there is a QR code on the donation sheet. We did an excellent job raising fund for this worthy cause last year and we want to continue to support TerryFox organization.

Have a great weekend!
