Tuesday December 6th update

¡Hola familias!

This week in math we continued with addition with regrouping. This week we are also starting to practice timed addition exercises.

In science we are continuing the liquids unit. So far we have explored water, read about the different states of water, started an experiment on evaporation and this week we will do an experiment on viscosity and also the effects of evaporation and droughts.

In ELAL we are working on "How to" writing and the digraphs ph, and wh.

In Spanish, we started to learn some Winter related vocabulary. We have also continued practicing to use the following prepositions of place:

arriba, abajo, izquierda, derecha, dentro, delante, detrás, al lado, debajo, encima and entre.

In social studies we are learning about the climate and landscape of an acadian community in Nova Scotia. This week we will do some related art.

In physical education, students are working on target games.

Please remember to look for any library books at home that need to be returned. I will be sending home a print out of the books to be returned.

I also sent home passwords and logins for both RazKids and google classroom. Please check your child's backpack for it.

School Reminders

December 9 will be Anything but a Backpack Day. This is a chance for the students to use their creativity by using a household item in lieu of a backpack. We want to emphasize that student should not need to buy anything for this spirit day and what is brought to school is safe for the student and those around them.

This year Dalhousie School has decided to give back to the community by participating in the Salvation Army Toy Angel Drive. This toy drive is designed to bring cheer to low-income families with children aged 0-12. A box has been set up in the main office to collect donations. If you would like to contribute please bring your unwrapped toys into the office before noon on 15 December 2022.

We are in the last month before Winter Break.  A reminder that if your child will be absent for 5 days or more due to a holiday, an extended absence form must be filled out.  Please email dalhousie@cbe.ab.ca to request the form and have it submitted before your child’s absence.
